Before we dive in

Pokémon GO uses limited-time passes to organize rewards into ranks. As players progress, they can unlock encounters and items instead of receiving every reward immediately. The October pass is a monthly activity, separate from the later Halloween event pass.

The free and paid tracks have different reward lists. Pokémon encounters let you try to catch the featured creature; items such as Poké Balls support regular play. Stardust and candy are resources used to develop your Pokémon.

The update

October’s reward track is arriving in Pokémon GO. Players can progress for free, while an optional paid upgrade adds more rewards to the same monthly activity.

The October pass begins October 6 at 10 a.m. local time and runs through November 3. Its rewards include a Kyogre encounter, Stardust, candy, and Poké Balls. Progress is required; these are not all handed out at the start.

A paid upgrade adds further rewards and a Lucky Trinket. Review the in-game reward track before buying, particularly if only one item interests you. The accessible rollout notice does not establish the upgrade price.

Serebii’s reward table separates the free and paid tracks by rank. Check that list and your in-game pass for the exact milestones; a featured encounter does not mean every rank gives Kyogre.
