Before we dive in

Ranked battles are the competitive side of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Players take part during a defined season and work toward higher ranks. A season’s rules matter because they determine which Pokémon can join the competition.

Mega Stones are items associated with Mega Evolution, a powered-up form for certain Pokémon. In this season, specific stones are attached to rank milestones, giving players something concrete to aim for beyond a better position on the ladder.

The update

The next competitive season is almost here. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is opening another ranked battle window, with rules that allow several powerful Pokémon and rewards for climbing the standings.

Season 18 runs from October 8 at 06:00 UTC until October 29 at 01:59 UTC. The announced rules allow Sub-Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, plus one Restricted Legendary Pokémon. That last limit is worth checking before assembling a team.

The reported rank rewards include Chesnaughtite at Rank W, Baxcalibrite at Rank V, Sceptilite at Rank U, Swampertite at Rank T, and Blazikenite at Rank S. These are separate milestones rather than a single reward bundle.

Check the in-game season notice for the complete eligibility list and reward details. The announcement establishes the competition window; it does not establish that every powerful Pokémon can be used without restrictions.
