Pokémon GO adds local bonuses for Pokémon Night Out attendees
Pokémon Night Out attendees in Los Angeles and London get local GO bonuses, raids and research; previously claimed research will not repeat.

Before we dive in
Pokémon GO is a mobile exploration game with both worldwide events and activities restricted to particular places. A local announcement applies to the specified event setting, rather than automatically activating for players at home.
Timed Research is a set of tasks with rewards and an expiry. Location backgrounds are visual features on particular Pokémon encounters; they are separate from a new species or a guaranteed rare encounter.
The update
Pokémon Night Out has a Pokémon GO component for people attending the Los Angeles and London events. This is a location-specific announcement, so the bonuses are not being presented as a global event.
The announcement covers Los Angeles on October 24 and London on November 10. Attendees receive hour-long Lure Modules, plus Pikachu in one-star raids and Gengar in three-star raids with location backgrounds. A selection of Pokémon, including Unown P, N and O, is also listed for increased wild appearances.
Two Timed Research opportunities offer Toxtricity encounters and the Pokémon Night Out Jersey. Serebii notes that players who already obtained the research through the weekend livestream will not receive it again. Check attendance and in-game eligibility details before making plans around these location-limited bonuses.
