Before we dive in

Poké Lids are decorative manhole covers with Pokémon artwork tied to local places. They are public installations to visit, rather than trading cards or products being sold. Each design gives fans another small sightseeing stop.

The update

Japan’s Gunma Prefecture is getting five Pokémon-themed manhole covers, with designs featuring Zapdos, the Farfetch’d family and more. The prefecture published locations for the new installations on October 23.

The five locations are Numata, Tatebayashi, Shibukawa, Shimonita and Naganohara. The prefecture’s official visitor map places them near local attractions, including the Fukiware Falls walkway, Ikaho Ropeway and Yamba Furusato-kan roadside station.

Bulbagarden reports planned installation dates of October 28 for Shibukawa, November 2 for Numata and Naganohara, November 15 for Tatebayashi and late November for Shimonita. These are installation plans, so check local information before travelling.

The unveiled designs show Zapdos; Dudunsparce with Shiftry; Boltund, Meltan and Seaking; Farfetch’d with Galarian Farfetch’d and Sirfetch’d; and Zigzagoon with Galarian Zigzagoon. The photograph below shows all five together.
